Ambisonics represents an immersive soundfield using spherical harmonic components rather than tying the audio to one fixed loudspeaker arrangement. The encoded scene can be rotated, processed and decoded for different playback environments.

First-Order Ambisonics provides an efficient foundation for spatial audio, while Higher-Order Ambisonics adds additional components to improve localisation, spatial detail and the stability of the immersive listening area.
